Hollywood's 10 greatest kisses: Film expert and director Patrick Sisam gives us his rundown of the 10 greatest kisses (and licks) of the silver screen. 4. Meg Ryan & Adam Brody- In the Land of Women http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/entertainment/film/46531/Hollywoods-10-greatest-kisses.html --------------------- My "In the Land of Women" experience. The movie I mean, not the Carter Webb experience! (as if! I'm a woman!) Before I saw this movie, I've never heard anything about it. But one day, I was looking for a particular movie scene, randomly watching portions of lots of films, wasn't even bothering to see the titles, when I happened to this scene where a cute girl is smoking on the roof of a house and a cute guy across the street comes out with hands and arms full of garbage. I thought it was a funny scene. Then an attractive older woman comes out and I was very surprised to see Meg Ryan. Meg and the cute guy talk a little and in that scene, I got the feeling that the guy and Meg would hook up in spite of the age differences. It was a simple conversation but you could feel the sparks between the two. I thought that it would be a Mrs. Robinson thing. So, I forwarded the movie, and I came to the scene where Meg is telling the guy that her husband is having an affair and they hug. A sweet scene. Then I skipped some more and the guy is at a party with the cute girl. Fully interested now, I've forgotten what I really ought to do and watched the whole movie. After that, not contented, I made myself a sandwich, sat comfortably on the couch and watched it on my tv. And I could say that this was a very good movie... there weren't many movies that I'd like to watch a second time. The movie is a sweet, nice and sad love story between Carter and Sarah. Adam Brody and Meg Ryan have awesome chemistry and they deliver great performances that I was really so into it. At the beginning, I thought it would be a Mrs. Robinson thing but by the end, I didn't even notice the age gap. I just saw two people falling in like and wanting to spend time together. I've got a lump in my throat at their last scene. There should be a rule that romantic comedies should have happy endings between the characters we'd fall in love with. I thought when he saw her they would hug and assure one another that everything would be alright in spite of the problems and difficulties they would face. I mean, you don't find everyday or with everyone that kind of connection, why not hold onto it instead of letting go? Anyway, it's just the hopeless romantic in me rambling. It's really a very good story. I didn't know Adam Brody before this movie. I've heard The OC and had seen some ads but I've never watched an episode. Thanks to this movie, I'm going to buy me the DVDs. Adam might had been worried at first that he wasn't on par with the good actors Meg had worked with in the past, but in this movie, I could say that he's up there on the list. I've always liked Meg Ryan and I've seen most of her movies but I wasn't really a fan until I saw this movie and the BBC Parkinson interview. She's very intelligent and hilarious, a rare combination to find in a person. Now, I find myself catching up on what movies she had done in the past that I've missed. And Adam Brody is now on my google news alert as well as Meg. Don't want to miss a thing about them. And I wish and want Adam to be successful, and both of them, good health and happiness. This movie was wonderfully written and directed by Jon Kasdan. There was also a movie but the book was much nicer and more detailed and has a much happier ending.
